Why does everyone think having Steals = Good Defense?

Yeah, it's not the same thing. I would rate those two as above average defenders, though. Iverson was DPoY in college. Stockton was a pretty tenacious, but dirty, defender... if you watch his old games, you can see him grabbing jerseys or coming over and haring whoever has the ball. It's just their size that's kept those two from being really good defenders in the NBA.
